Bike Ride, Bonfire, and Baseball!

We finally had a weekend of great weather, and we definitely took advantage of it! On Saturday, Steve rode 75 miles in the American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure. He also reached his goal of raising $500 for the cause. This was his second year participating.

Rylie was a great spectator, of course!

Later that night we had our first bonfire of the year with Trevor and Bree, and also tested out our new (to us) fire pit! It was a beautiful night and we devoured many s’mores. We may or may not have turned on the Christmas lights that are still up at our house…

We were lucky to be able to join several of my coworkers in the Microsoft suite at the RedHawks game on Sunday, Steve’s first Father’s Day. Rylie sported one of her Twins outfits for the event.

She even got to meet Hawkeye!

After the game we came home and I made a pie. From scratch. In my recipe search I learned that a lot of people have a hard time getting strawberry rhubarb pies to set nicely since the fruits have such high water contents. I decided to go with a recipe that called for quick cooking tapioca. Apparently the “quick cooking” part is pretty important. My pie tasted delicious, but the regular tapioca pearls didn’t really dissolve like they are supposed to. Unfortunately for my colleagues, this pie is a little too funny looking to share, but I’ll be happy to eat it all myself. 🙂

The pie and crust recipes are from one of my favorite cooking websites, Smitten Kitchen.

We would have helped you with the awesome looking pie! What do your co-workers know…

Rylie takes her baseball and bon fires very seriously doesn’t she? Looks like fun! S’mores?
